The Hartmann Collection

"The Hartmann Collection” is a private collection owned by Gerard Hartmann consisting of over 1,000 items of sporting memorabilia and artefacts, with almost half of the collection housed here at the University Arena, open to the public.

Limerick native Gerard Hartmann, who is recognised as one of the worlds leading sports injury therapists and who operates Hartmann International Sports Injury Clinic at the University of Limerick, collected the sports artefacts over the past twenty years.

What is unique about “The Hartmann Collection” is that each item in the collection is authentic and was presented to Gerard by sports stars that have been patients of his and many are close friends.

Throughout his profession Gerard has worked with many of the worlds top sports stars including 1,000 Olympians from 17 different countries. This includes 61 Olympic medal winners and numerous world champions along with his serving at 5 Olympic games.

The Hartmann Collection showcases many of Irelands sports stars along with contemporary Irish and International stars and gives sports enthusiasts an opportunity to view firsthand some very unique sports memorabilia.

It also serves to reflect and respect the success of Irish athletes on the world stage and provides encouragement for young upcoming athletes to believe in themselves and in seeing that Ronnie Delany, Eamonn Coughlan, Marcus O Sullivan, Frank O Mara, Jim Hogan, Sonia O Sullivan, Derval O Rourke, Sean Kelly can win on the world stage. Then with dedication to their chosen sport they can be champions also.
